Baptism FAQs

How much does the service cost?

The service is free. It is the welcoming of your child into the family of God through our church family and we couldn’t possibly charge for that!

I live outside of your parish. Can my child still be baptized here?

Although it is usual to have your child baptized in your local church there are often very good reasons why you may want the service at another church. It may be that you worship regularly with us, or that you were married here, or that you have only just moved away. Whatever the reason do contact Beverley and she will help as much as she can.
If you do arrange a baptism outside of your own Parish you will need to get a letter of consent from your local vicar as a matter of courtesy.

One of us is Roman Catholic. Can our child still be baptized in your church?

Yes, that is not a problem.

How many Godparents can we have?

This is entirely up to you although we do like you to have more than one. We insist that all Godparents are baptized.

As the parents of the child do we need to be baptized?

Yes you do, If you are not baptized and you would like to be you can join one of our Christian basics courses which lead to Baptism and Confirmation. If you would like to do this please contact one of the clergy team.

How soon do we need to book our baptism service?

You need to book as soon as possible. The baptism takes place during our main morning Communion so that we can welcome you and your child into the family of the church. We can therefore only do one baptism a month at Curdridge and Durley and a maximum of two at Botley.
The services take place on the first Sunday of the month at Curdridge and Durley at 10am, and on the third Sunday at Botley at 9.30am, unless special services are already planned for those dates.

To book a service or for any other queries please contact Beverley via our contact form.
